Overview
Mahabaleshwar is not only famous for it's breathtaking Tourist Points but the untouched Jungles around it. This Route of Mahabaleshwar to Kaas via Varsoli Koli is one of such unxplored Road in Koyna Backwater Area. We did this on the eve (21st March 2020) of Nationwide Lockdown aka Janata curfew.
Day 1
Mahabaleshwar to Kaas Road
1 2:30 PM Ambegaon, Pune
We started a little late in afternoon as we already knew this route. Only question was to find a short cut way from Varsoli Koli to Bangalore highway without going far towards Satara. We found a very good road indeed via Medha and Kudal.
2 5:15 PM Lingmala, Mahabaleshwar (लिंगमळा)
Lingmala is known for it's dense forest and Lingmala Waterfall situated very near to Mahabaleshwar - Panchgani Road. In Monsoon of 2021 this road got affected due to landslide.
3 5:45 PM Baghdad Point (बगदाद पॉइंट)
Road through Baghdad point take you to lower heights from Mahabaleshwar towards Kaas. This a breathtaking point to see the part of Koyna Backwaters and mountain ranges going towards Kaas Plateau.
We have been to this place many times. During Monsoon this place gets totally covered in clouds coming from the North-West. In Winter and in Summer you can feel cool & fresh air making your evening delightful.
5 7:00 PM Mahabaleshwar - Kaas Junction
This point is kind of square where the left road goes towards Medha, Little straight and Right will lead you to Kaas and a straight off-road is a trail (walking path) towards Kaas where vehicles cannot go. We took left here towards Medha to reach home in time as it was getting Dark.
6 8:15 PM Kudal (कुडाळ)
This is single lane village road but serves the purpose to safely reach the Bangalore Highway.
